We were HOA board members ourselves — frustrated by spreadsheets, buried email chains, and enterprise software priced for professional management companies, not volunteer boards running communities on weekends.
Born out of a board meeting that ran two and a half hours.
It was a Tuesday night in October. Our co-founder Marcus had just sat through his community's monthly board meeting — the fourth that year to run past 10 PM. The agenda was supposed to take 45 minutes. Instead, it took three rounds of searching email threads for attachments nobody could find, a spreadsheet that showed different numbers than the bank statement, and a 40-minute argument about a rule nobody could remember passing.
He texted Priya that night: “I need to show you something. There has to be a better way to run an HOA.”
There was. They just had to build it. Not another enterprise management platform with a $500/month price tag and a six-month implementation. Something built specifically for the 350,000+ self-managed communities across the United States — volunteer boards of real people who care about their neighborhoods, but who don't have professional management budgets or dedicated staff.
Today, TractOps is used by communities in 10 states. Every feature we've shipped came from a real conversation with a real board member who was struggling with a real problem. That's not going to change.
